Teaser Tuesdays :: My Soul To Take

teasertuesdayicon.jpg

TEASER TUESDAYS asks you to:

  • Grab your current read.
  • Let the book fall open to a random page.
  • Share with us two (2) “teaser” sentences from that page, somewhere between lines 7 and 12.
  • You also need to share the title of the book that you’re getting your “teaser” from … that way people can have some great book recommendations if they like the teaser you’ve given!
  • Please avoid spoilers!

Teaser :: My palms began to sweat, and my heart pounded so hard I was sure Nash could hear it echo in the elevator. What were the chances I'd make it through the ICU without finding a soul to sing for? (Pg 133 of My Soul To Take by Rachel Vincent)

Finished My First Quilt

With a little blood, sweat, frustration, and in the end - complete satisfaction ... it's finally finished. I have loads and loads of respect for quilters now!

Finished look.

Project Runway :: Episode 1

Photo via.

Episode 1 : Welcome To Los Angeles
Challenge: Red Carpet Look - "Innovation is key."- Tim Gunn

Guest Judge : Lynsay Lohan
Favorite Designer(s): Christopher, Irina
Least Favorite Designer(s): Ari, Gordana

Winner: Christopher

Competition Over For: Ari

Yeahs ::
  • New location, FIDM.
  • Everyone seems very nice. Good personalities no stuck-ups.
  • Tim Gunn, fab as ever.
  • Designs, lots of texture. Lots of talent this season.
  • Mitchell has a disastrous situation. Makes a new (iffy) outfit at the last minute and still is able to stay aboard.
Nays ::
  • Melvin states that he doesn't differentiate between colored carpets. Huh? He hasn't heard the term "red carpet"?
  • Ra'mon cries on camera. Apparently for no reason.
  • Johnny has a break down on the first episode. Doesn't look good for him. What's going to happen as the show progresses and the pressure increases?
That's my recap, cliff notes style.

On My Desk Wednesday :: Ready To Hand Stitch My Throw

Please excuse the bad pics. Took these with my phone while my camera is out of service.

After much procrastination, I've taken my throw out and started working on it again. I ran into a few snags and almost gave up.

SNAGS :
  1. No safety pins. Constantly poking and stabbing myself, I'm surprised I didn't throw this across the room.
  2. Not enough work space. Laying it on my floor is killer on my bad back. Not enough sewing room. This throw is so heavy that while I was trying to quilt it, it was constantly falling off the table and pulling. Which caused crooked stitching. I ended up keeping the stitching and almost completing. Came across this blog post, link, and a light bulb went off. Took me a few hours but I ripped out all the stitching I'd done so far.
  3. Since I changed to The Simple Tied Quilt, I had to readjust some of my measurements. I was in a rush so I constantly found myself readjusting my measurements.
Now, I'm almost done! Everything is in place and ready to be hand stitched. I'm loving how it is looking. This is motivation to hurry up and finish.

Teaser :: I burst through the door and into the alley, gazing around the narrow empty space as my eyes adjust to the darkness, making out a row of overflowing Dumpsters, a trail of broken glass, a hungry stray cat-but no Damen. (Pg 73 of Blue Moon by Alyson Noel)
