On My Desk Wednesday :: Sewing Frustration

I came across a little sewing mishap. Just a little something to make me so frustrated that I put the project away and haven't retried in a few days. Brought it back out. Now, I'm trying to figure out why the back panel and front panel are off by 1" in the crotch!

I take that these are pants or shorts? Usually the back pattern is cut longer for more ease. Match the crotch seam and ease in the rest. Most of the ease should go in the area of the thigh.

That looks like a cotton fabric should it should ease with no problem.

Try this; loosen your stitch length to almost basting. On the longer piece; starting at the crotch, stitch for a few inches while holding your finger behind the presser foot. Let the fabric bunch up. Release, then do several more times. This should ease that excess right out. If it eases too much, just lightly steam that area until it is just right.

Let me know if that makes sense.
