First Screenprint on Fabric

This weekend I printed on fabric for the first time. Very exciting. Drilled holes in my sewing table and mounted my hinge clamps. Now it's a printing/sewing desk. The color I used was Turquoise on linen. Once it dried, it turned into a bright green! Not what I was expecting.

On a previous post I used Versatex ink when I stenciled. First wash - lots of fading. This time I added fixer to the ink to help with fading.

I ironed freezer paper to the back of the fabric before printing. There was no shifting around!

Looks great, Tina!

BTW- you asked about what ink I used for my prints- it was just standard ink for fabric printing- screen painting ink. The stuff that you heat set in the dryer or with an iron.

I'm looking forward to seeing more of your work!

Hi, I stumbled upon this after looking for people's experiences with that Fixer-- now I definitely want to get some! And I think you may have saved me with that tip on freezer paper-- I was hemming and hawwing about getting fabric to lay smooth before printing and this is a brilliant tip I never would have thought of. I'll be attempting to print some pillow fabric in the next couple of weeks, I'm so excited! I hope you have a lot of fun with printing on fabric, it looks really good!
